10 Dec 2015 New York’s Finger Lakes Trip Elevation Profile
Biking through the Finger Lakes is a rewarding experience both physically and mentally. Your elevation will vary in order to move laterally across the state to reach the lakes you’ll spend all day enjoying. Our Finger Lakes Bike Tour is an Intermediate Road Bike Tour, so riders should be comfortable riding on quiet roads with light-moderate traffic.
Below is a sampling of the ride elevation profiles from each day of the tour. This is a representative group– it may not include all ride options and it may not be the entire ride of each day. Keep in mind the scale of the image can distort both the steepness up and down of these rides, so pay attention to the increments on the scale.
Don’t be alarmed by sudden spikes in elevation gain – the GPS tracking cannot account for bridges and tunnels. On a bridge crossing, it reads down to the ground level. Same as a tunnel passing. Instead of reading to the tunnel surface, it reads to the ground level above the tunnel – thus looking like a sudden spike in elevation gain.
