Day 1: We will meet in Skaneateles, NY on this first morning of the tour. Your welcoming into the Finger Lakes regions will be spent as it should be: pedaling around the shores of Skaneateles Lake. (We will check into the rooms after the ride.) There will be enough time in the afternoon to explore the town or relax at the Inn before we have our first group dinner together at one of the local restaurants in Skaneateles.
Day 2: Wake up and enjoy breakfast before heading out into the countryside. Today’s ride takes us from Skaneateles to Ithaca. The countryside today is beautiful, with views of bucolic farms, burbling creeks and a gorgeous cascading waterfall at Fillmore Glen State Park. This afternoon we’ll ride to the delightful William Henry Miller Inn in Ithaca. You’ll have some time to relax, and then explore Ithaca on your own.
Day 3: Today we get to explore Ithaca. You can choose to join for a morning ride, or take a rest day and explore on your own. Today’s ride starts from the William Henry Miller Inn and includes two spectacular waterfalls in the first mile! From there the ride continues to Treman Park. From the park, we’ll shuttle to Ithaca Brewing for lunch, then we’ll continue the rest of the day’s explorations! This evening, enjoy another night in downtown Ithaca.
Day 4: After indulging yourself on a sumptuous breakfast at the William Henry Miller Inn, there will be a short shuttle to the Taughannock Falls overlook. Time for pictures!
Your ride begins here (at the top of the falls) where you’ll pedal along quiet roads to the most famous park in the Finger Lakes: Watkins Glen State Park. The Glen Creek drops 400 feet, between 200-foot cliffs, carving out 19 stunning waterfalls. It’s truly gorgeous! We’ll walk through the refreshingly cool gorge after having lunch in town.
Day 5: Today is the big day! We have a 63-mile circumnavigation of Keuka Lake, a metric century! This morning we’ll ride from the Inn after fueling up on Glenora’s delicious breakfast. Keuka, the Y shaped lake, is the true heart of New York’s Finger Lake wine region. Today, you’ll visit Hammondsport, voted “Coolest Small Town in America.” From there you’ll cycle around beautiful Keuka lake, through Penn Yan and past rolling Amish farms before returning to the Inn at Glenora for a second night.
Day 6: There will be a short shuttle to the start of the ride in Geneva, NY continuing around the north shores of Seneca Lake and across to Cayuga Lake. From the shores of Cayuga Lake the group will pedal to the final stop in Seneca Falls to enjoy lunch together. After lunch a 1⁄2 hour shuttle returns the group to Skaneateles. Airport shuttles to Syracuse will be provided if necessary.
This moderately challenging trip rolls along smooth paved roads, past three of New York’s Finger Lakes: Keuka, Seneca and Cayuga. Along the way, you’ll visit wineries, hike along stunning waterfalls and visit historic sites – such as the bridge from It’s a Wonderful Life. The scenery, lodging and food on this bike tour are truly fantastic.
Not only full of delicious wineries, the finger lakes region is also full of stunning views! Our moderately challenging road bike tour takes you pedaling past three of the Finger Lakes most beautiful lakes – Keuka, Seneca and Cayuga Lake. We also take you on a guided hike to explore Taughannock State Park & Falls and Wakins Glen State Park’s jaw dropping winding gorge and waterfalls.
