Bike Tour Rentals for Rail-Trail Tours or Canal Tours

The majority of these trips take place on crushed limestone surfaces.

Kona Dr Dew hybrid bike rental

The Kona Dr. Dew

The most popular choice! This bike is a “hybrid,” meaning it has mountain-bike-style flat handlebars and fast-rolling tires with some tread. These bikes are easy to handle, especially for less experienced riders. The mountain bike position and controls (brakes and shifting) makes the bike easy to ride on dirt, and it keeps the riders head up so it’s easy to look around. Compared to a road bike, the position is more comfortable for people with limited flexibility, neck or back issues. The Dr. Dew can also be used on a road tour.

The Dr. Dew has a 1 x 11-speed drivetrain, which has the same gear range as an older 3 x 10-speed drivetrain. The 1 x 11 is better because it’s lighter and shifts more quickly.

Details:

  • Hydraulic disc brakes
  • Wide-range gearing
  • 700x38c tires
  • Aluminum frame and fork
  • 25 pounds

The Cannondale Quick

The Quick CX1 hybrid bike provides an upright riding position, with straight handlebars and a full range of gears. It is a comfortable ride. Our electric bikes are Quick CX1’s outfitted with an electric motor and a lithium battery.

Like the Kona Dr. Dew, the Quick is efficient on paved roads and off. With a mountain-bike inspired frame, 700c knobby tires, front suspension, and disc brakes, it’s great for dirt roads, rail trails and even pavement.

The Cannondale Quick E-Bike

New! We have a limited quantity of Cannondale Quick hybrid bikes available as electric bikes! We have outfitted our tremendously popular Cannondale Quicks with the Bafang BBSHD Mid-Drive E-bike kit from Luna Cycle. This is the most powerful and reliable Mid Drive Kit on the market. There are five different assist settings. Each one feels like riding with a gentle push from behind. Please note: you have to be pedaling for the assistance to kick in! Every night, your guides make sure the battery is charged and ready to go. It will have plenty of range for any of our bike tours.

An e-bike is a great option for people who’ve recently been injured, haven’t had time to train for a trip, or would like a little extra help so they can keep up with their riding partners!

E-bike rentals are $150.

*** Some rail-trails and towpaths don’t allow e-bikes. Call us and ask if you have any questions! ***

kona rove st rental

The Kona Rove

The Kona Rove is a cyclocross, or gravel bike. This versatile bike has road bike handlebars and larger hybrid-sized tires. The Rove is a good option for people on a dirt road or rail trail tour who enjoy riding road bikes, and would rather ride a bike with drop bars. If you don’t like the stretched-out position of a road bike, the Rove can also be used on a road bike tour. The riding position of this bike is styled for endurance riding – the top of the handlebars are level with, or slightly below, the saddle.

The riding position is more efficient and aerodynamic position than a hybrid. More experienced riders are usually more comfortable on drop bars, which give the rider more hand positions. The Rove’s steel frame is also comfortable and soft-riding on long days.

Details:

  • Mechanical disc brakes
  • Wide-range 1×11 drivetrain
  • 700x38c tires
  • Steel frame and fork
  • 25 pounds

Compared to a race-oriented road bike, the Synapse has a more relaxed, upright position which is perfect for long rides.

Details:

The Kona Rove

If you like the road bike drop bar style, but are not comfortable on skinny tires, The Rove is smooth and comfortable on pavement. It is not as fast as a road bike, but that’s okay. This is a tour, not a race! This is a great choice for road rides where the pavement might not be perfectly smooth, like our Georgia Gold Coast bike tour, Colorado Kick Some Pass Tour, or the Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands Bike Tour.

If you don’t like the stretched-out position of a road bike, the Rove can also be used on a road bike tour. The riding position of this bike is styled for endurance riding – the top of the handlebars are level with, or slightly below, the saddle.
