Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania is a tiny town and outdoor recreation mecca in southwestern Pennsylvania. It is located in Fayette County, approximately one hour south of downtown Pittsburgh, PA.

What does the name Ohiopyle mean?

The name “Ohiopyle” is from a Lenape Indian phrase ahi ohipele which means “it turns very white”, referring the frothy waterfalls on the Youghiogheny River running through the town.

Ohiopyle was just featured as One of the 22 Smallest Towns in America Worth Visiting  Come visit Ohiopyle – you’ll find lots of fun things to do outdoors on the Youghiogheny River, the Great Allegheny Passage Trail and in Ohiopyle State Park.   You don’t need any experience rafting or fishing to take a trip or join a guide, but you probably do need to know how to ride a bike to rent one from us (unless, of course, you are a tiny tot enjoying the views in mom or dad’s bike trailer)!


Frank Lloyd Wright – Fallingwater Tours

Love to experience historic homes? Nearby to Ohiopyle are the famous attractions and architectural wonders of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. Daily tours are available to enjoy. We offer shuttles to Fallingwater for visitors, too – so if you are riding the GAP trail, just contact us to get a shuttle to Fallingwater. Its worth the visit!  Ohiopyle has good eats and great microbrews, and be sure to visit the ice cream shop for the kids!  Fallingwater doesn’t have a restaurant either, just a small cafe with limited hours. Come back to Ohiopyle and Falls City Pub after your Fallingwater tour.


What are the lodging or camping options in Ohiopyle?

Ohiopyle is located in a deep basin along the Youghiogheny River, with Ohiopyle State Park surrounding much of the town. As a result, limited lodging is available actually within the town of Ohiopyle, but there are many options just a short away.
