The lower Cheat Narrows is a family-friendly Class 2+ run with summertime moderate flows. Less than one hour from Ohiopyle, PA, Cheat River rafting trips in Albright, WV are easy to get to and offer you memorable outdoor adventures! Albright WV is also within easy driving distance of popular Deep Creek Lake resort vacation area in western Maryland.
The Cheat Canyon is an impressive 10 miles of wilderness white water rafting with a series of class IV-V rapids. This remote and beautiful section of the Cheat river runs exclusively on natural flows – so our rafting trips are dependent on mother nature for water levels. This is why rafting trips through Cheat Canyon only run in the spring when the natural flows are at the highest. At lower water levels in late spring or early summer, you can try paddling a duckie instead of raft for a terrific thrill!
The Cheat Narrows is a gentle float section of the mighty free-flowing Cheat River that makes a the perfect introduction to rafting. Depending on water levels, it’s a 5- to 7-mile trip on the more gentle Class I-II waters. Stop for a riverside lunch, jump off the rocks, play in the water, and have a great day on the river! This is the perfect river rafting trip for families with kids age 8 and older, who want some white water thrills mixed in with a casual, awesome outdoor float trip experience.
