On this once-in-a-lifetime bike tour we’ll be visiting and tasting at some of the nation’s finest whiskey-makers, including Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace and Four Roses. Day 1: Home of Thoroughbred racing, begin your day at the Keeneland Horse Track with an in-depth tour of the racetrack. Your ride starts here where you will pedal through lush, green horse country making your way into the heart of Bourbon County. Today will be your first opportunity to taste what makes this region so famous. We have a tour and tasting at the historic Woodford Reserve Distillery. Woodford’s story goes all the way back to 1812, so you’ll get a fantastic overview of the history of Bourbon making in Kentucky. You’ll end today at the lovely Storybook Inn in Versailles.
Day 2: Wake up to a delicious, made-from-skratch breakfast at A Storybook Inn. Today’s ride takes you to Buffalo Trace for your second distillery tour. Keep your walking shoes out as the tour takes you across the expansive grounds. We’ll return to A Storybook Inn for a second night, where you will have time to explore the town of Versailles for dinner.
Day 3: Today we leave Bourbon County for the beautiful Kentucky countryside. A short shuttle takes everyone to the beginning of the ride today. You’ll pedal through verdant countryside to Shaker Village, and a night spent among the rich cultural Shaker traditions. We do not have a distillery tour today, instead you’ll enjoy a tour of the historic Shaker Village Farm, where you’ll learn more about their spirituality and incredible craftsmanship as well as the farm-to-table practices of the community. A farm-to-table dinner will finish the evening and you’ll be ready for a restful night’s sleep.
Day 4: Wake up and to yet another farm-to-table experience at Shaker Village – breakfast! Our ride begins from here this morning as you head deeper into the rural countryside of Kentucky and initially land at Four Roses Bourbon. Shop, look around and enjoy a tasting before transferring to Lexington, where we will tour the Lexington Brewing and Distillery Co. Once the tour is over, we’ll check into the Museum 21C Hotel. Tonight we’ll have our final dinner together in Lexington.
Day 5: Finally, it’s time to explore one of those gorgeous horse farms you’ve been riding past all week! Our last day starts with a tour of Claiborne Farm, home of Secretariat and other Triple Crown winners. From here, enjoy a ride to the local’s favorite lunch spot, Windy Corner Market. Eat, tell stories and enjoy your final moments before bidding farewell to your new group of friends.
