Sunny Santa Fe Photo Tour
Introducing Wilderness Voyageurs’ first-ever Santa Fe, New Mexico bike tour! Over four gorgeous days, the group soaked in the diverse, colorful southwestern culture — they attended a New Mexican cooking class, walked the colonial streets, cycled historic roadways, visited experimental art exhibits and sipped cool margaritas in the shade. The extra bonus, this was our first ever true Hub & Spoke tour, the entire tour was based out of a single lodging, so no moving of bags, no getting situated in a new spot each night.
Watch the video below and imagine yourself cycling through the adobe-and-turquoise streets of “The City Different.” Santa Fe is truly unique, with history and culture around every corner, an art scene that spans from traditional to contemporary, delightfully comfortable accommodations, eclectic and award-winning cuisine, and countless treasures to encounter, it’s a destination sure to delight.
On this tour, we had lots of familiar faces from previous bike tourings, 2 couples were traveling with us for their 6th time! It’s always fun to see cyclists who trust Wilderness Voyageurs to bring them on a unique and memorable vacation. But whether it was their first or fifth bike tour, everyone had a terrific adventure!

DAY 1: After introductions, the group took a morning spin in the heart of Santa Fe’s historic district, negotiating the narrow streets around the Plaza, the areas of South Capitol & the Railyard District. This day was all about exploring downtown, seeing the sights and getting used to the elevation (7,000ft). They swapped out cycling shoes for walking shoes and enjoyed an afternoon historic walking tour, of America’s oldest capital city.
Dinner was hands-on at the Santa Fe School of Cooking! The group made savory empanadas, chile spiced chicken and other New Mexican specialties!
DAY 2: Riders re-traced some of the original miles of the Old Santa Fe Trail. They rejoined the historic route a couple miles into the ride, then headed in the direction of Missouri. They climbed to the turnaround point (Camp Stoney), near the tiny village of Canada de los Alamos, then had a lovely descent with views west of the Jemez Mountains. After lunch in the park, folks were free to choose from one or all of the great exhibitions at Museum Hill, each representing a different facet of Santa Fe art & culture.
DAY 3: Today, the cyclists rode city trails (Rail Trail, Acequia Trail, Arroyo Chamisos Trail & River Trail) to the world-famous Meow Wolf, where they spent hours immersed in this mind-bending, interactive art exhibition. Fairly new to Santa Fe, this former bowling alley quickly made it to the top of the visitor must-see list. A mind-bending, interactive art exhibition featuring 70 rooms that will take participants on a macrocosmic adventure of seemingly endless possibilities. After lunch in the park, a relaxing afternoon and a final group dinner, the crew hiked up to the Cross of the Martyrs, downtown’s best sunset spot.
DAY 4: On the final morning of the tour, riders started cycling with a zig-zag route through the Plaza. Soon they climbed north out of Santa Fe to descent into the village of Tesuque for one last lunch in a lovely sculpture garden, and then shuttled back to the Inn on the Alameda for the final time.
