PA Amish Country Bike Tour
I had tried several times to book this tour (PA Amish Country) but the schedule never seemed to work out, so I was thrilled when I was able to finally ride this area.. Scenery was spectacular and the history of the region was very interesting. Great room accommodations with plenty of good restaurants and ice cream stores to share time and stories with the other riders. The terrain was moderately hilly but other than one big climb quite manageable. Since this year the tour was held in late July it was hot, but with a moderate pace and frequent water breaks everyone did pretty well. I would recommend that future tours in this area be late spring/early summer, or the fall.
So, the ride leaders. What can I say but that Richard and Dave were absolutely great. Knowledgeable about the area, friendly and helpful, and interesting in their own right. They were always one step ahead of our needs, making sure we had plenty of hydration and snacks, and the lunches they prepared for us on the road were awesome. You would expect to lose weight on a 4-day ride in hilly country but I doubt I did. Always plenty of good food to fuel us up. I have been on many other bicycling tours and none were better managed than Richard and Dave did on this one. Just a great ride, a great tour, great leaders, and I am sure Wilderness Voyageurs will be my go to vendor in the future.
