Civil War battlefields bike tour
Our Civil War battlefields tour was a success in all aspects. Rain of two of the four days failed to dampen our enthusiasm but was sufficient to cause me to rate the experience a “4” instead of a “5”. The new friends we hadn’t yet met were a pleasure. Our tour guides at each battlefield were matched to our group perfectly. This meant in personality as well as in-depth understanding of the history and people of each of the battles. Since several of us are hard-core Civil War history buffs they proved their mettle. Gary was unable to ride with us due to a bad knee, but we were fortunate to share his company and knowledge for the first day at Gettysburg. Bill proved to be the perfect pinch hitter for multiple reasons, not least his military background matching that of two of us and his aviation background matching our medevac pilot member’s background. Ken has led similar tours on several occasions and his teaching background meshed with several of our other members’ backgrounds—all in all near-ideal fits all the way around.
The accommodations were excellent, in fact far above our usual Hampton Inn level of travel lodgings! We enjoyed the lodgings, the meals and the companionship.
We shall certainly give strong consideration to another comparable tour for next year!

David, thanks for the feedback. Glad that the rain did not dampen the spirits.
