Treat yourself to this active vacation and earn your daily R&R at the regions tastiest restaurants and comfiest inns.
Day 1: Blackwater Wildlife Preserve & Oxford, Maryland
Here we go! Join the group for meet and greet in Easton, MD. Guides will help you with any last minute seat adjustments before leading the group on an easy morning ride through Blackwater National Wildlife Preserve. Keep your eyes peeled because this preserve is home to the largest nesting population of American Bald Eagles on the Atlantic coast! The preserve is home to other endangered species like the Delmarva Fox Squirrel and the Peregrine Falcon. Lunch will be served at the refuge by your guide staff before continuing the day’s journey to the waterside town of Oxford. Check into the Sandaway Lodge and relax with your newfound friends on the lodge’s private, waterfront porch, while tucking in on locally caught and prepared crab cakes! YUM!
Day 2: Bayside riding on St. Michael’s Island
Get back in gear! Don’t skip breakfast before catching the ferry to St. Michael’s Island just off the eastern tip of the Bay. You’ve feel like your living on a postcard all day as you count sailboats and sip a quick pick-me-up at a charming island cafe. Riders have the option to continue exploring the island via bike or take a break at the Chesapeake Maritime Museum. You know you’ve done the day right when you find yourself back where you started that morning at the Sandaway Lodge, slurping on a mojito! For dinner, the gang’s going out to the Robert Morris Inn where you’ll enjoy a modern British spin on staple Chesapeake dishes.
Day 3: Exploring colonial Easton, Maryland
Just keep spinning! Day three of the tour will take you on country roads through rustic farmlands. After a waterside lunch, stock up on electrolytes (and maybe a candy bar) at a Support and Gear (SAG) stop and then go onward to your day’s destination, the quaint seaside town of Easton. Easton will dazzle you with its Victorian architecture and antique everything! Known as the 8th Best Small Town in America, walking down Main St. will put you in a time machine, sending you back to the Colonial Era. Can’t get enough riding but don’t want to miss out on Easton’s history? No problem, there are many more trails right outside Easton that will lead you through those rolling farmlands to Victorian churches and cemeteries. Tonight’s accommodations will be the Bartlett Pear, a restored inn with a mishmash of both modern and Victorian decor.
Day 4: Talbot County & Pickering Creek Audubon Center
It’s not over yet, is it?! No way- wake up and to a Bartlett Pear break-feast before embarking on the last ride of the tour. Enjoy Talbot County’s unique combination of landscapes, rich agriculture meets nautical vistas before arriving at the Easton Sports Complex for the last supper! The gang goes out with a bang, venturing to the Pickering Creek Audubon Center, featuring 400 acres of forests, fields and shoreline, 222 bird species and 300 moth species! Ride the final leg back to your car and say farewell for now to your new group of cycling buddies!
