Immerse in the coastal lifestyle with a schooner ride off the coast of Camden, and experience a true New England working harbor. The journey ends with a sunrise at the Pemaquid Lighthouse, a leisurely ride to Freeport’s attractions, and a return to Portland, where you’ll reflect on this Maine Bike Tour adventure filled with history, natural wonders, and culinary delights.

Day 1: Your tour begins in vibrant Portland, known for its maritime history and urban charm. You’ll pedal along scenic coastal roads and trails, taking in iconic landmarks like Bug Lighthouse and the historic Portland Head Lighthouse, one of the oldest in Maine. Ride through the 3,100 acre estuary named Scarborough Marsh which is the largest salt marsh in Maine comprising tidal marsh, salt creeks, freshwater marsh and uplands while we explore south from Portland to Old Orchard Beach on the Rails-to-Trails Hall of Fame Eastern Trail.
Day 2: This day brings you to Winter Harbor and Acadia National Park. The 13-mile ride through the Schoodic peninsula offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, and a ferry ride across Frenchman Bay reveals stunning vistas of Cadillac Mountain. Exploring the quaint streets of Bar Harbor is a charming experience.
Day 3: You’ll delve into the natural wonders of Acadia National Park, navigating the historic Carriage Roads throughout the park. These crushed stone trails offer cycling at your own pace, with opportunities for up to 36 miles of exploration. The day is highlighted by majestic views of Acadia’s rugged terrain, the timeless beauty of the carriage roads, water features, Cadillac Mountain, and a 6 mile downhill ride back to Bar Harbor.
Day 4: A scenic ride takes you on Bar Harbor’s Loop Road, offering 25 miles of coastal beauty. A visit to Trenton for a lobster roll lunch and a shuttle ride to Camden concludes the riding portion of the day. Our lodging tonight is along the historic Megunticook River creating the falls which you will see at the harbor as the day culminates with a magical schooner ride aboard the Schooner Olad at sunset.
Day 5: Departing from Camden, today’s 35-mile ride along paved roads leads you to the iconic Moody’s Diner. A short shuttle brings us to Bristol and the Pemaquid Lighthouse. The journey includes the charming town of New Harbor, a working harbor, and ends with the striking beauty of the Pemaquid Lighthouse against the rocky coastline.
Day 6: Witness a mesmerizing sunrise at the Pemaquid Lighthouse and enjoy breakfast at the Bradley Inn. A leisurely 25-mile ride from Brunswick to Freeport offers scenic views, with Freeport’s attractions such as L.L. Bean and Wilbur Chocolates awaiting exploration. Finally, a shuttle ride returns you to Portland, where you’ll reflect on the unforgettable coastal cycling adventure.
