Serene but active tour at out own pace!
Our guides, Josh and Colleen, were cordial, competent and super pleasant to be around. Safety was a conspicuous priority, followed by fun and good food. Eating was very efficient and convenient for breakfast and lunch, and the support stops were quite refreshing and well timed. Dinner in the evening was local fare at local eateries and was very good – not overly fancy (which we neither wanted nor needed), but tasty and comfortable.
We rented bikes from Wilderness Voyageurs and were glad we did. First rate equipment in new or excellent condition, well tuned and ready to go. We brought our own seats which they kindly installed on the rentals and returned to us promptly at the end. Had a flat on day 3 that they fixed in a jiffy. No interruption to itinerary. Highlight of the trip is the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. Josh was extremely knowledgable about regional flora and fauna, habitats, climate effects, etc. Absolutely beautiful scenery.
The towns of Easton, St Michael, and Oxford are lovely, quaint and quintessentially Eastern Shore and the two inns where we stayed were abundant in charm and local character, clean and very COVID-friendly. Large, comfortable rooms, beds, and baths.Only downer was the ferry to Tilghman’s Island cancelled early for the season on the day before we were set to go there, so might want to consider that when scheduling your trip (we made the last one on Oct 18-21). Josh and Colleen came up with a nice plan B for that day, but the ferry and island ride likely would have had a lot more water/wildlife viewing.
Overall, a wonderful trip that refreshed all our senses and offered us the opportunity to make new friends. Highly recommend this trip! Thank you Josh and Colleen for a wonderful time.
