We thought we should share some local knowledge and write a really great post with some sample itineraries and things to do in Ohiopyle and surrounding areas. So here you go! From the Uber Adventurer to the Adventure Family and the Easy Street Adventurer we’ve included popular spots and highlights throughout the area. Enjoy!
For the Uber Adventurer we’ve got sweet options for you!
Start out with an Upper Yough whitewater raft trip. Fast-paced and action-packed, you have to be on your toes and follow the commands of your expert guide!
For some single track – grab your mountain bike and check out at Big Bear Lake. Exciting trails with great views for you and your friends!
Hike the Garrett trails at Swallow Falls State Park. The 1.5 mile Canyon Loop trail takes hikers along Muddy Creek Falls, Swallow Tails and Swallow Falls as you travel next to the Yough River.
This adventure is leaving you with a feeling of accomplishment and a growling stomach. Only three miles from the Upper Yough raft launch is Mountain State Brewing. Good drinks and great food!

Great Options for the Adventure Family!
Start out with a Middle Yough Raft Trip. Appropriate for children as young as 5. The middle is a gentle Class I-II mild river trip through Ohiopyle State Park.
Bike the GAP. Use our shuttle service to get to any point along the Greater Allegheny Passage rail trail. Easy riding on crushed limestone, suitable for the adventure family.
Try a local amusement park. Idlewild and Soak Zone are popular favorites. Idlewild is the oldest amusement park in the country and has been named best kids park from 2010-2015!
New Adventures make you hungry! Out of the Fire Cafe and Country Pie Shoppe are great and located between Ohiopyle and the amusement park.

The Easy Street Adventure – Mix adventure and R&R.
Start out with a Lower Yough Raft Trip. The Lower Yough is Class III whitewater – fun waves, frollicking action. It’s perfect for adventurous first time rafters to experienced white water rats.
Bear Run Nature Preserve Hike . Gorgeous 5000 acre retreat with beautiful streams and the famous Fallingwater home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935.
Ride the Alpine slide at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.
