Cross Country Ski Time in Ohiopyle!
The snow is here and the staff is skiing. It’s still a little thin out there, but there is enough to hit the trails. If you have rock skis – you might want to bring those. I haven’t had the stomach to actually look at the bottom of my brand new BC70 & the fish scales. I’m sure they’re fine, but they have scrapped over a few rocks out there. Stay high on the ridge. The trail from Sugarloaf out to the Food Plot is good. Another recommendation is the new Oriole loop which starts at the base of the sledding hill. It climbs up the back of the Sugarloaf knob and back down the front. In the summer, it’s a blast to run or mountain bike, and last night we discovered it makes for a great single track ski as well! You get a beautiful view from the top and if you head out in the evening, you just might get a killer sunset shot too.
It’s cold. Bundle up! IR’s Thick Skins are cozy layers for skiing as well as winter paddling. Warm enough to keep you skiing when it’s in the single digits!
