Kentucky Bourbon Country – through the eyes of a new rider!
Join us on the road for the story of a guest who had NEVER been on a road bike until just a couple months before heading out on the Kentucky Bike and Bourbon Tour. He followed our 10 week training plan, surpassed it and enjoyed every aspect of the tour.
Want to feel luxurious and pampered? Hop on a bike and ride through the elegant and manicured country roads of northern Kentucky. home to some of the nation’s finest whiskey-makers, including Wild Turkey, Willet, Buffalo Trace and Woodford Reserve. Kentucky is also home to Keeneland Race Track, home of Thoroughbred horse racing and still one of the largest Thoroughbred breeding hubs. The finely manicured class of the Kentucky landscape is best enjoyed by bike, cycling past green lawns, horse farms, and superior Southern lodging.
Bike and Bourbon biking season comes twice a year for us here at Wilderness Voyageurs, in May just after the crowds depart from the Kentucky Derby and again in October as we follow the warm weather south.
``Wow! What a terrific tour! The motto ``Ride, Relax, Connect`` was fulfilled during our cycling adventure along the Bourbon trail in Kentucky. Cycling the rolling hills of Kentucky was the perfect challenge for me. The tours of Keeneland, the Bourbon Distilleries and Claiborne Farms were interesting and interactive. The accommodations throughout the trip were these lovely historic Inns, and we were treated to tasty, local food the whole way. I think for me the trip was most memorable and enjoyable because of the great group of riders on the tour! Our guides, Taylor and Bill, made sure we had everything we needed, whether it be a ride, a snack or a fender. The communication from Wilderness Voyaguers before the tour was great as well, providing me with lots of information regaurding the tour. I am telling all my friends, and am looking forward to my next bike tour with Wilderness Voyageurs!``
