Bike Tour Rentals

Bike Tour Rentals: Options & Pricing

Choose from bike tour rentals for road bike tours or rail-trail bike tours. We offer bikes from Cannondale and Kona. All our bikes are high quality and superbly maintained by our expert in-house bike mechanics.  Rental bikes include a helmet, two water bottle cages, an under seat bag with a spare tube, and a small handlebar bag.

  • What pedals come on your rental bikes? The standard pedal is a platform pedal without cages or toe clips.
  • Can I bring my own bike? Yes! As long as it is appropriate for the trip, has been recently tuned, and is in good condition.
  • If I rent your bike, can I bring my own pedals and seat? Of course! Bringing your own pedals and seat can make your ride much more comfortable. Your guides will install these on the first day of the tour, and then give them back to you after the last day’s ride.

Bike Tour Rentals for Rail-Trail Tours or Canal Tours

The majority of these trips take place on crushed limestone surfaces.

Flat bar hybrid bike

This bike, the Kona Dr. Dew, is a “hybrid,” meaning it has mountain-bike-style flat handlebars and fast-rolling tires with some tread. These bikes are easy to handle, especially for less experienced riders. The mountain bike position and controls (brakes and shifting) make the bike easy to ride on unpaved surfaces.  It also keeps your head up so it’s easy to look around. Compared to a road bike, the position is more comfortable for people with limited flexibility, neck or back issues. A hybrid bike can also be used on a road tour.

The Dr. Dew has a 1 x 11-speed drivetrain, which is lightweight and shifts quickly.

Details:

  • Hydraulic disc brakes
  • Wide-range gearing
  • 650x47c tires
  • Aluminum frame and fork
  • 25 pounds

The Kona Rove is built to handle road surfaces and rough trail surfaces equally. A road-style, drop-bar bike with wide tires that are perfect for gravel and dirt, the Kona Rove is efficient on paved roads and off. Couple those features with a SRAM Apex 1x drivetrain, and the Rove is begging to take you away from your traditional route and into territories unexplored.

This bicycle is best for avid riders who have experience riding drop-bar bikes.

Flat bar hybrid electric bike

We have a limited quantity of Kona Dew-E hybrid bikes available as electric bikes. From the standard hybrid Dr. Dew platform, the Dew-E is a pedal-assist electric bike.

For some tours, we require a doctor’s note as prerequisite for an e-bike rental. Please refer to your trip itinerary or contact a bike tour specialist for clarification if necessary. Also note that some rail-trails and towpaths don’t allow e-bikes. Call us and ask if you have any questions!

E-bike rentals are $90 per day.

Step-through bike

The Kona Coco is a step-through bike for people who request a step-through specifically. The riding position is so comfortable! Its slightly upright, swept-back handlebars allow arms and wrists to relax, and this bike is also outfitted with ergonomic grips to take pressure off the hands. The Coco’s step-through frame makes it easy to get on and off the bike. If you have flexibility issues, this bike is for you! The Coco has wide 650bx47c mm tires, so it rides great on both rail-trails and roads.

Details:

  • Disc brakes
  • 1×9 speed
  • 650bx47c tires
  • Aluminum
  • 26 pounds

Bike Rental Options for Road Bike Tours

These trips take place on a paved roads. Please note – both options are not available for all tours

Drop-bar road bike

A great road bike for a scenic tour – but only on 100% paved roads! The Cannondale Synapse has a relaxed, slightly upright road bike position for greater riding comfort. This road bike has a more efficient and aerodynamic position than a hybrid bike. The Synapse is equipped with slick, high pressure road bike tires – the best and fastest choice for pavement tours. More experienced riders are comfortable on drop bars, which have more options for hand positions.

Details:

  • Mechanical disc brakes
  • 2×10 compact drivetrain (a compact drivetrain has lower climbing gears than most road bike drivetrains, so it’s easier to get up a steep hill)
  • 700x25c tires
  • Aluminum frame and carbon fiber fork
  • 21 pounds
