Beer & Gear Brewery: Grist House

Beer & Gear Brewery: Grist House

We’re finalizing our brewery list for Beer & Gear 2017, and this year’s lineup is looking better than ever!

Joining us for the annual celebration of bluegrass, boating gear and local beer is Pittsburgh’s Grist House Craft Brewery.

The Grist House team.

Grist House was started by Kyle Mientkiewicz and Brian Eaton, childhood friends from Erie, Pennsylvania. These beer lovers also happen to be brothers-in-law (yes, Kyle approved of Brian marrying his sister) and all-around good dudes.

Kyle and Brian started craft brewing at home, in 5-10 gallon batches. They shared beer with friends and family for a few years and tested new beers on their willing guinea pigs. After a few years, they thought (and hoped) that other folks might enjoy drinking their beer. People might even pay money for it!

A tasty lineup.

Kyle and Brian set out to bring their dream to life. After filling out countless forms, hunting for property, remodeling an old slaughterhouse and installing equipment, they finally opened Grist House Craft Brewery’s doors on Memorial Day weekend 2014.

Everyone at Grist House Craft Brewery has a deep passion for craft beer and the people who drink it. Their goal is to bring the great people of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania quality beers brewed to the highest standards.

Whether you prefer a full-bodied IPA, refreshing wheat, crisp Kolsh or a hearty imperial stout, Grist House has beers for any palate. (On tap right now they’ve got all kinds, from an American IPA, a pale wheat ale, a tasty dark porter and even a Russian imperial stout. Their beers range from 5% to a beefy 10%.) Every draught is poured with pride, and they’re looking forward to kicking their kegs at Beer & Gear this June!

Beer And Gear Fest is June 17, 2017! Circle the date on your calendar and come to Ohiopyle for an incredible Saturday of live music, vendors showcasing the best outdoor gear brands, and ever-flowing awesome local microbrews on tap.
