If you are interested in a fun day on the river without big rapids, this is the trip. It’s great for families with children 8 and older. The Cheat Narrows, a gentle float section of the mighty free-flowing Cheat River, is a the perfect introduction to rafting. Depending on water levels, it’s a 5- to 7-mile trip on the more gentle Class I-II waters. Stop for a riverside lunch, jump off the rocks, play in the water, and have a great day on the river!
Either a raft or duckie can be used to float the Cheat Narrows, depending on the level of the water. A duckie is an inflatable single or double kayak. They are very fun and very forgiving! Ducks are the standard craft used during the lower waters of the summer. Rafts are used during the spring for the higher waters.
“This is something we do every year. They are always very welcoming and knowledgeable. We are able to get the adrenaline rush, but at the same time feel safe and protected. I definitely recommend!” ~ Sjaquah- Ohio
