Bike through History: The Civil War from Gettysburg to Antietam and Harpers FerryAre you prepared for a totally visceral experience of American history combined with a relaxing bike vacation? Come join us on the Civil War Cycling Tour and pedal through Gettysburg, Antietam & the Monocacy valley for 4 days & 3 nights.
You will experience Gettysburg like few people have, up close and personal with a “battlefield guide”. This vacation will retrace key campaigns of the American Conflict. Cycle through the beautiful landscapes of rural Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia. We will pass stone barns of the 1700’s, and beautiful brick homes that have witnessed the birth and struggles of a young nation. Roll on past the farm fields that still feed a nation. In the evenings kick back and reflect while relaxing on a porch from a previous era. Departure Point: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Tour difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate. The terrain is mixed with some rolling hills and the support van is always nearby if you need assistance. What is Included:

Day to Day ItineraryDay 1 Gettysburg National Military ParkMeet the guides in Gettysburg. Bike the battlefield with a “Battlefield Guide” Explore charming downtown Gettysburg, Wine and cheese welcome reception at your historic Inn. Day 2 Monocacy River ValleyRide through the rolling countryside of Maryland and Pennsylvania. You will be surrounded by civil war era homes and barns and feel like you have stepped back in time. Enjoy a world class dinner at the 1844 Antrim House. Day 3 Antietam National BattlefieldWe will visit South Mountain State Park, which affords us a breath taking views of 4 states and the Potomac River Valley. The afternoon finds us retracing the routes of the Union and Confederate armies around the site of the Battle of Antietam. Day 4 Harpers Ferry National Historical ParkWind our way through horse country and enjoy the pastoral setting. We will spend the afternoon exploring the corners of Harpers Ferry. Hop across the river and take a spin on the C & O Canal towpath. Rendezvous with the SAG vehicle for transport back to your vehicle. Farewell!
