White Water Rafting Trips in Ohiopyle

Most Popular Rafting: Lower Yough Rafting Trips

Ages: 12+
Trip Departures: April-October

The Lower Yough is our most popular Ohiopyle rafting trip for a good reason – this river section is a total blast! It involves Class III white water, which means fun waves and fast action are punctuated by gentle meandering sections to catch your breath and enjoy the scenery.

The Lower Yough trip doesn’t require any prior experience, making this raft trip perfect for first-timers and rafting enthusiasts alike.

The standard Lower Yough rafting trip is a guide-assisted trip, which means you captain your boat with an expert guide in a kayak ready to assist you at any point. However, there are additional options to make it a fully guided trip or a private deluxe trip.

Family Rafting in Ohiopyle: Middle Yough Rafting Trips

Ages: 5+
Trip Departures: April-October

Want a relaxed river trip for multi-generation family members? The Middle Yough is for you! The easy, gentle Class I-II Middle Yough raft trip travels North downstream from Confluence, PA, to Ohiopyle, PA. The Middle Yough is perfect for first-timers, kids as young as 5, and families looking for a fun day trip outside.

Due to the mild rapids on this section of the river, you can rent rafts, stand-up paddle boards, canoes, shredders, kayaks, and duckies (inflatable kayaks) for paddling fun on the Middle Yough. You can even pair your raft trip with a biking activity on the Middle Yough Pedal and Paddle Trip!

Advanced Rafting: Upper Yough Rafting Trips

Ages: 16+
Trip Departures: Specific days throughout April-October

If you’re a raft enthusiast searching for an adrenaline rush, look no further than the Upper Yough. The Upper Yough rafting trip meets in Friendsville, Maryland, just a 25-minute drive from Ohiopyle. The Upper Yough trip has Class IV-V white water action for high-intensity, technical white water rafting. This section of the river requires prior experience and an aggressive “go for it” attitude.

Even though the Upper Yough is a section of the Youghiogheny River, the Upper Yough does not start, end, or go through Ohiopyle. This river runs south to north and the Upper Yough trip runs directly south of Ohiopyle, PA, in the far northwest corner of Maryland.
