Lower Youghiogheny
Whether this is your first white water rafting trip or you’re an experienced rafter, the Lower Yough, located in Ohiopyle is a blast! If you have a mix of whitewater veterans and first timers, this is a great river for you. Hit class 2-3 rapids, drop out of the boat for a swim in deeper pools and have a great riverside lunch (included) with friends!
The Upper Yough is a more intense adrenaline packed river with class 4-5 rapids. Back to back, you’ll hit four Class V rapids, falling a ridiculous 120 feet per mile. Steep drops, big munchy holes, tight chutes, and powerful wave trains characterize this section of the river. When you pause in the pool below National Falls and gaze back upstream, it will dawn on you that this is what real whitewater is all about. Middle Youghiogheny
It is a gentle Class I-II mild river trip through beautiful Ohiopyle State Park. Class I-II means there are some ripples and a little splashy water, but no large whitewater rapids. This is a great family trip with kids or a fun float trip with friends. The Middle Youghiogheny section is a step milder than the Lower Yough and appropriate for children as young as 5.
