A Snowy Yough
We woke up to nearly a foot of snow in Ohiopyle this morning. It’s the first Monday after the holidays and I’m sure all of the local kids are pretty psyched by their unexpected snow day. It’s still snowing with another 6 inches in the forecast. That is just for today. According to the weather reports, we should be getting snow for the next week. Yahoo. Ohiopyle is just as fun in the winter as it is in the summer. Forget whitewater rafting – bring out the skis, sleds, split boards, snowshoes and the gloves for snowmen. You better grab the dog too!
Yesterday was a great day of skiing and today will be even better. We explored the Old Mitchell and Sugar Run trails by the Old Mitchell Parking lot. They are easy to get to and rarely used. Sugarloaf is always a good bet – both for skiers and sledders alike. The bike trail is a fun cruise and a gentle ski. With this amount of snow, I’m sure you can snowshoe just about anywhere.
The store is open daily in case you need a warm place to get dressed and just warm those toes. Falls City Pub is open Thursday – Monday. Weekdays it opens at 4 and weekends it opens at noon.
