White Water Rafting

For 50 years, Wilderness Voyageurs has been providing a safe, exciting and fun rafting experience for our guests. Our river rafting trips span through Ohiopyle Pennsylvania, northwestern Maryland and northern West Virginia—and we offer rafting for every level of experience. Whether you choose a guided high adventure trip or mellow family float,  we’re here to make sure you have a fantastic experience.

Rafting Adventure Trips
Class II – IV

Rafting Adventure Trips include Class 2, 3, and 4 white water rapids that offer fun and excitement for novice rafters and up. Appropriate for enthusiastic first timers, older kids (age 12 and up) and experienced adventurers, these trips are the heart of white water rafting fun for thousands of families and individuals every year!  We offer you four different options for Ohiopyle rafting the Lower Yough section of the famous Youghiogheny River, depending on your prior paddling experience.  Our standard Lower Yough rafting trip is guide – escorted. Several guides will be in rafts and kayaks, helping you to captain your raft down the river.  If you want to guarantee a guide in your boat, choose the Guide in Boat option.  If you have a lot of prior experience paddling, you might want to rent a raft and navigate on your own down the river. 

Rafting High Adventure Trips

White Water Rafting Trips on Class 3, 4 and 5 White Water Wilderness Voyageurs has three white water rafting trips that offer world class high adventure action on Class 3, 4 and 5 rapids. Class 5 level white water, the hardest levels commercially run in the states. These rafting trips are also close to Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Cleveland and Columbus, making them some of the most accessible class 4+ rafting to major cities.

Rafting Family Adventure Trips

Ohiopyle State Park, the Laurel Highlands and Albright West Virginia offer perfect family rafting adventures.


Families enjoy white water rafting and float trips in the Middle Yough section of the Youghiogheny River in the Laurel Highlands and Ohiopyle State Park, and in nearby West Virginia on the Cheat River Narrows section. Both of these river sections offer a terrific introduction to white water rafting for families, with kids as young as the perfect family getaway, with unforgettable adventures for you and your kids.

More Family Fun Activities in Ohiopyle

Ohiopyle State Park Besides water activities, Ohiopyle State Park has family activities throughout the entire 20,000 acres. Choose from 70 miles of hiking trails, many of them kid friendly. There are also plenty of places to go swimming on the Youghiogheny and Meadow Run, like the Natural Water Slides, right at the end of town! Stop by our Wilderness Voyageurs Outfitters Store in Ohiopyle at the north end of town, and our staff will be happy to assist you with detailed information on the best hiking and biking trails, swimming holes, and ice cream spots for your family.
