Wahooo!! Ohiopyle and rafting adventures open May 15!
July 23, 2020
Well things have been going fairly well with our return to operations. We ask all of our guests to arrive for their adventures with an extra measure of kindness and patience. Adding all of these measures to try and keep our staff safe and to keep you safe add a few minutes here and there. Please keep in mind that everyone has different comfort levels of being with other people, please respect fellow adventurers.
We are very busy implementing new procedures and protocols for how we conduct our trips, modifying our facilities and setting expectations for those who adventure with us! Social Distancing, increased cleaning, and generally reducing opportunities for transmission are still very important. We can’t wait to see you in Ohiopyle (from a safe distance)! Read on for more details.

Our New Normal
First and foremost, please do not come if you are sick or know you have been exposed to the Coronavirus. We’ll be conducting enhanced screening protocols for staff and guests. These may include a temperature reading and a health declaration. Either of these (at our discretion) may lead to the refusal of service or removal from a trip.
As always, the safety of our guests and our staff is our primary concern. Please take necessary precautions to protect yourself before your trip and when traveling, and if you meet any of the criteria for our enhanced screening for COVID-19, please contact us immediately.
Personal Distancing: Per CDC recommendations, we ask that everyone practice social distancing as much as possible during your adventure with us. Check-in, store and transportation for rafting will be high contact and interaction points, so please help us by staying appropriately apart from others not in your group.
Face Coverings: Our team is helping to protect you by wearing face coverings when appropriate during your visit. We request that everyone on Wilderness Voyageurs grounds or participating in any activity or trip with us have a face covering and use it when in close proximity to others. These coverings may include a cotton face mask, a disposable face mask, a bandana or a neck gaiter (Buff style). For those of you on a rafting adventure, we recommend wearing a Buff-style face mask. We want to keep everyone safe while enjoying nature and having fun. Face coverings are mandatory for entry to the retail store and transportation. Thanks for understanding!
Personal Sanitation (hand-washing & sanitizer): Everyone should wash their hands regularly and thoroughly before, during and after activities. We have installed hand sanitizer throughout the property, and will have it available where soap and water may not be.
Online Waivers: Guests will check-in using digital waivers, as much as possible. Look for a link to our online waivers after you have booked your reservation. Please have one waiver per person per activity completed before arrival.
Trip Size and Boat Format
- Groups and families who arrive together in a group of 5-6 or any multiple of that number will be in their own boats.
- If your group is smaller than 5, you can book an entire boat for just your group.
- Boat capacity is reduced to 5 or less guests if multiple groups have to share a boat.
- Trip sizes are reduced to a maximum of 22 people.
Transportation: We will carry fewer people per shuttle, wear face covers, load the bus from the back to front skipping seats, and unload the bus from front to back. Windows will stay open during transport to promote air flow, and Wilderness Voyageurs team will clean and disinfect transportation regularly. Masks will be available for guests to use while being transported in an outfitter vehicle.
Instruction & other activities: Group sizes are limited to promote social distancing.
Facilities: We’ve got great outdoor facilities for people to spread out, and we may limit the number of people allowed in our indoor spaces (store, Pub, pavilion, etc.) We will be cleaning, cleaning, cleaning high-contact areas as following CDC recommendations.
Equipment Care: Please limit contact with equipment you are not personally using. Our Team has put extra cleaning procedures in place and will instruct you on proper adjustments for sizing from a distance. All rafting and other adventure equipment will be cleaned and disinfected after every trip. This includes life jackets, wetsuits, helmets, splash jackets, paddles and boats.
Thank you in advance for your patience, understanding and flexibility. Together we can ensure that Wilderness Voyageurs will be around to help guide you down a backroad, a trail or a river, discover a new favorite place, and enjoy special moments with your friends and family.
