Boy Scout Rafting and High Adventure

Wilderness Voyageurs was started by scouters!  Lance Martin was running canoe trips and rafting trips for scouts in the late 50's.  He brought troops from Pittsburgh out into the hills of Ohiopyle and a company and an industry were born.  Today, many of our staff are past scouters and we are actively involved with all of the Scout Councils of Western PA.

What does this mean to you a scout leader or scouting parent?  We understand the BSA, and the BSA has acknowledged that we operate quailty scouting programs.  We offer more BSA programs than any outfitter in the mid-atlantic.  We understand your organizing and budgetary challenges and that is reflected in our policies and pricing for scouts. 

What are you goals with your unit's outing? Advancement, Fun Recruitment, or retention?  We have an activity that will help you accomplish your goals.  Trips and programs are available every day from April to October.

Whitewater Rafting

Choose from 15 sections of river in Pennsylvania, West Virginia or Maryland.  Rafting trips vary from the Class 1 & 2 Middle Yough to the class 2 & 3 Cheat Narrows, the Class 3-3+ Lower Youghiogheny:, or the Class 4-5 Cheat River Canyon.  

Depending on your goals, the scouts experience, and the time of year, there is a rafting experience for you.

The most poular rafting trip for Boy Scouts ages 12 and over is the Lower Yough. The river runs through the protected wilderness of Ohiopyle State Park, Pennsylvania’s largest park.

Kayaking!

Learn to KAYAK! Your scouts see it on TV, now they'll get their chance to get up close and personal with the river. All equipment is provided. They could leave the day with a life long passion! 

Mountain Biking

Sweat, get muddy, cruise the trails and have a blast mountain biking! Ohiopyle has an an incredible trail system, more than 25 miles of mountain bike trails to choose from. This will be your boy scout troop's playground for the day.
