Ohiopyle, PA Class I-II
Another way to spend your day enjoying Ohiopyle State Park and the beauty of The Middle Yough! Instead of taking a shuttle bus to the put in 9 miles upstream from Ohiopyle in Confluence, you will pedal yourself along the Great Allegheny Passage. We will meet you at The Ramcat Launch area where you will swap your bike for a raft. Your relaxing float will return you to Ohiopyle.
You may be curious what is the bike trail like. You will be riding a portion of the Great Allegheny Passage which is only a 2% grade on a very nice crushed limestone surface. The only traffic you will encounter are other bikers. The trail leads directly to the launch area so you don't have to be concerned about riding too far. Just make sure you are biking upstream with the river to your left!
Once you receive your raft, you will learn some safety basics and what to expect on the river portion. If you have any questions, be sure to ask!
The Middle Yough is a class I-II section: expect some splashy water, but no large whitewater rapids. There may be some navigating around rocks and a few smaller waves. Your craft will be a raft, unless you choose to upgrade to a duck (single or double inflatable kayak) or canoe (as long as you have prior experience). Pack your lunch as this is a non-guided adventure. Plan to swim, relax, laugh and enjoy! Pedal and Paddle on the Middle Yough.
