Meet Shiner

Meet Shiner

The little snow puppy who hasn’t missed a ski in days. This morning’s loop was up Sugarloaf and down Baughman – two trails which never have enough snow to actually ski! What a treat. Lou and Eric ventured a different adventure; dropping off Tharp Knob down to Great Gorge Trail and back to the office. Ohiopyle has an endless amount of trails to explore! The snow is better up top, getting a little sticky as you get back to town. But it’s not bad.

The Youghiogheny River has more ice flowing everyday. It makes it hard to image paddling the Lower Yough right now. A ski, a book and a little hot chocolate is more like it. Although this won’t last for too long. Spring will be here before we know it and we’ll be flocking to the Cheat River for some West Virginia Class IV whitewater action. That’s for later though. For now – stick with the snow gear. If you haven’t visited Ohiopyle in the winter, you really should.

Today’s favorite gear:
Myself: Mountainsmith’s Lumbar Pack for the camera and extra gear
Lou:  Marmot’s Precip Jacket
