Colorado Kayaking Trip
Kayaking Colorado!Advanced Beginner Rocky Mountain kayaking trip! Have you dreamt of paddling in Colorado, but didn't think you had the skills or knew where to go? Think again!! Visit Colorado in one of the best ways....on the river. Take in the views and increase your paddling skills all in one.
The goal of this week is to help you fast track your kayaking skills, and become a capable class 3 kayaker (navigate the Lower Youghiogheny with confidence). Along the way you will forge new friendships and meet boating partners. Multiple consecutive days of kayaking will accelerate you through the learning curve like you have never imagined. Muscle memory, comfort and confidence will build each day. So be prepared, you may start spending every weekend heading to a river somewhere! What is included: Transfers to and from Denver International Airport, transportation throughout the week, kayaking equipment, instructors and most meals are included. Excludes: Airfare, travel insurance, Personal camping gear, alcohol, admissions to attractions, lodging in Denver on August 13th if needed. You are responsible for arriving in Denver, Colorado or Glenwood Springs, Colorado on August 9th by the appointed times Itinerary:August 8Arrive at Denver International Airport by 3 PM You will be met at the airport and shuttled to our base for the week. It will be about a 3.5-hour ride to our campsite in the Upper Colorado River Valley. If you have plans to arrive early or stay on after the trip, we can make arrangements to connect at he campsite near Glenwood Springs. August 9We will paddle the Upper Colorado River in Dotsero, Colorado. A very pretty canyon that has well defined eddies, plenty of current, and some friendly surf waves. The day will be focused on brushing up on technique and ensuring you are comfortable in your boat. Oh yeah, don’t forget about the roll clinic in the afternoon. This is a solid class 2, moving water day. August 10We will either head to the Roaring Fork or the Grizzly Creek section of the Colorado. The goal of the day will be to step up the whitewater a bit, easy class 3 rapids with well defined features and rapids that you can read and run. August 11Roaring Fork, or Glenwood Canyon of the Colorado will be our playground for the day. Continue to sharpen skills, rescue basics and rapid reading/scouting will be on the menu. The afternoon will be dedicated to natural hot springs and soothing those sore paddling muscles. August 12You are headed to the Shoshone section of the Colorado River. Are you curious about this thing called “play boating”? Today you will have the opportunity to try different boats and experiment with some freestyle moves. Following today’s river time we will pack up and head to the Denver airport. Flights should be booked for afternoon departures. Or stay an extra few days to enjoy Colorado in the summertime! River sections may vary based on water levels and individual skills progression. We have selected this region of Colorado to operate the trip due to the large number of whitewater options that are available in close proximity. We really want to turn you on to the sport of kayaking; this will only happen if we can deliver an experience that fits your skills and comfort level.
Who will you be paddling with? The best of the best. This trip is run with a Wilderness Voyageurs lead kayak instructor along with Renessaince Adventure Guides. |
