You can choose to see the entire Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal by taking the 6-day biking tour. (Keep in mind - the SAG wagon is available should you need to take a break!) Some of the splendid sites you'll enjoy are Ohiopyle State Park, Antietam National Battlefield and Great Falls National Park. Another option is to hit the highlights on the Easy Rider 3-Day Tour, starting on the Great Allegheny Passage, visiting Fallingwater and finishing on the C&O Canal. Or spend 4 days on the Great Allegheny Passage enjoying the world-class rail-trail in its full glory with a little more time to explore the trail's side towns.
The Great Allegheny Passage is a Rails-to-Trails project that connects Pittsburgh, PA to Cumberland, MD.
The C&O Canal National Park parallels the Potomac River from Washington, DC to Cumberland, Maryland, where it meets the Great Allegheny Passage. These two trails link up to provide you more than 300 miles of contiguous bike trail - all with a maximum grade of 2.5 %
