Yough Hatches and Stream Conditions

What's Hatchenin'?

May 10, 2012

High & off color currently apply. With dry days in the forecast the next couple days we should see improved conditions by Saturday. Look for stockings in the delayed harvest streches on the Yough Tribs in the next week.

Hatches

Everything hatching last week continues and should be around for the next several weeks. That said, the Green Drakes have started. We saw hatches evenings this week and already a couple spinner falls. This hatch is 3-4 weeks early. Don't miss it!

Dale’s Tip of the Week

The drake hatch is our most dramatic. dry fly event - during the day you wil need to be well supplied with Green Drake nymphs. Fish those on a dead drift and finish with a downstream swing and a twitch retrieve.

Look for the hatch to begin late afternoon in shaded areas of the strea, and try a spent spinner early in the morning for those still hungry trout.
