Day 1 Meet in Bedford, Pennsylvania at the Historic Bedford Springs Hotel.  We will embark on our first ride straight out of the lobby.  This valley is rich in colonial history and buildings, the Espy House, which was George Washington's headquarters in 1794 during the Whiskey Rebellion, is located in charming Bedford. Big red barns, an elk herd and miles of bucolic farm land are awaiting our arrival.  Rolling terrain will be the key word today.  George Washington really did sleep in Bedford, Pennsylvania.  As well as 10 other US Presidents. Mileage 12-25 miles

Day 2 A short shuttle down the “Lincoln Highway” will take us over Laurel Ridge and into the Ligonier Valley. We will meander along the base of the ridge and through the valley that was the country playground for the likes of the Mellons and America’s Industrial elites. Lunch is an extra special treat today, served in a rebuilt 1750’s tavern on a private estate, from the organic garden on property... maybe even homemade apple pie will make an appearance. The afternoon will find us in the charming Village of Ligonier, spend the rest of your day browsing shops, hanging in the town gazebo, or visiting Fort Ligonier from the French & Indian War. Mileage: 20-45 miles (optional 3 mile descent)

Day 3 We will begin the day with a transport to our starting point at the Somerset Historical Center located in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Somerset Historic Center highlights Pennsylvania rural heritage with a log house; smokehouse barn and maple sugar camp. Next we will celebrate the indomitable American Spirit in 2 very different settings. Firstly, at the miners memorial, where 9 miners were retrieved alive from a collapsed coal mine, then we stop and pay homage to the heroes from 9/11 at the Flight 93 Memorial Site. The remainder of the day will find you breathing in country air and appreciating the views.
Mileage: 25-58 miles
Flight 93 Memorial will be a stop on the Americana Bike Tour

Day 4 We depart the Allegheny Plateau and return to the ridges and valleys geologic province of Pennsylvania. This means lots of beautiful creeks crisscrossed by Covered Bridge extravaganza! Small towns, stone homes and horse & buggies will keep you company today. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the hawks that are traveling this important migration corridor along the edge of the Allegheny Front. This country side will bring to life an era when things moved at a different pace. Careful, you may want to move in!
Mileage: 18-32 miles
