What’s a Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Sojourn Like?

Since the first sojourn in 2001, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has guided thousands of riders from all over America along the most scenic trail networks in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.

Sojourns are designed to allow participants to stop and explore the communities and attractions along the way. You’ll be riding at your own pace, and there are frequent opportunities to stop, rest and enjoy the surroundings, which makes them rides for all ages and skill levels—from the young to the young-at-heart, aficionados to first-timers, families to freewheelers! But the events are more than just rides. Sojourns celebrate open trails while highlighting gaps in what could be longer regional systems. By “uniting” separate trails into one network through a multi-day trip, sojourns demonstrate the benefits of completing unfinished trail segments and draw attention to specific hurdles that need to be overcome.

Make A Difference – Join a Sojourn Ride

By participating in Rails-to-Trails Conservancy’s Sojourns, you make a concrete and lasting impact as a trail advocate and supporter of building powerful rail-trail networks in America.
